You might think you’re letting yourself down

We’ve all been there:

Beating ourselves up for going off track, overanalyzing every diet and exercise decision. Getting frustrated when our fitness progress feels slower than expected. The truth is, we all have negative thoughts like these from time to time.

But let’s change that narrative.

Recently, one of my clients shared her frustrations with her weight loss journey. She felt discouraged because initial progress was slow, despite sticking to her plan. She started overanalyzing, questioning her calorie intake, exercise routine, and even that one late-night chocolate bar.

I wanted to show her that progress often looks different than we expect. Here’s what her weight graph during those three weeks looked like:

Quite a stark difference from her feedback right?

Initially, it wasn’t plummeting,

And it actually even started to flatten out a little,

But consistency and confidence in the correct methods,

It was moving in the right direction,

And it stayed that way.

The same goes for another client of mine below,

Look at those weight fluctuations.

But, I reassured him each and every day was a step to something bigger that we couldn’t see yet:

Fitness progress can be slower than we want,

While impatience often leads to stress and anxiety.

But separating feelings from facts is essential.

Your progress might feel sluggish,

But as long as you stay focused on what you can control, results will come.

Remember, fitness isn’t a race with a due date.

It’s a journey without a finish line.

That’s liberating because it means you don’t have to rush.

You can make peace with the process.

The next time you catch yourself getting upset about your fitness results, ask yourself: Am I doing what I need to do to see results?

If you are, being negative won’t help.

Choose to embrace the journey, and you’ll find that progress becomes more consistent and fulfilling.

Stay positive and keep moving forward!
